Moshi Town

Today is our last official day in Moshi.  We leave tomorrow morning for a 6 day Kilimanjaro climb and then fly to Dar es Salaam for the second half ouf our internship on Friday Feb 15.  Time has flown by so far!  Leaving Moshi is definitely bittersweet for me.  I have loved getting to know the town, exploring the shops and restaurants and of course, meeting tons of wonderful people.  But I am also ready to continue with our adventure in a new location, explore a new city and experience another clinic.

Moshi Town is an averaged sized town in terms of square miles (or square kilometers), however, there are approximately 200,000 people making the streets very busy and bustling!  People usually walk everywhere or take the bus (daladala) since the majority of people do not own cars.  This makes the streets very crowded and hectic.  There are markets with fruit, vegetables, and various foods and outdoor make shift shops on every street.  Every morning people come to town from all over to lay down their blankets and merchandize or produce on the streets for people to buy.  It is very different from what we are used to in the U.S., but it has been interesting and fun checking out all the shops and stands.  See you later Moshi, it has been amazing!

Busy streets!  As you can see women do carry things on their heads :)
